'Scissor Cop' Team debuts new horror anthology Web Series

BROOKLYN, NY -- February 11, 2009 -- Hot off the heals of their hugely popular web series Scissor Cop, Escape Pod Films is set to debut a new web series, Sandwich of Terror. The show is a parody of horror anthology programs that skewers the usual sci-fi/horror subjects. It was picked up by Channel 101 NY and aired as part of the February screening at 92YTribeca in New York.

Sandwich of Terror is a love letter to all the wonderfully cheesy horror anthology shows the Escape Pod Films team grew up on, including Tales from the Darkside, The Twilight Zone, and Tales from the Crypt. The show will subvert classic horror/sci-fi tropes such as aliens, time travel, ghosts, vampires, and the devil to create a twisty and fast paced web comedy series. How fast paced? Each five minute episode will contain one or two horror stories in addition to brief local TV commercial parodies. This is all designed to give it the feel of watching early syndication television.

The first episode begins with a story about a ham radio user who learns something surprising from his fellow ham radio enthusiast in "The Frequency of Fear." In the second story, two roommates search for the source of a mysterious odor in "The Stinkening." Sandwich of Terror is now available at Escape Pod Films (http://escapepodfilms.com/video.asp?videoid=427&title=sandwich-of-terror-episode-1) and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGz2CjaV_mw).

Escape Pod Films is a Brooklyn based filmmaking organization that launched in the fall of 2007. In addition to web series, the group has produced a number of high quality short films and sketches. All seven episodes of our web series Scissor Cop can be found at http://escapepodfilms.com as well as http://www.youtube.com/EscapePodFilms.
